The purpose of this paper is to clarify the current situation and issues by focusing on universities that train social welfare professionals, mainly social workers, and analyzing the diploma policies of faculties and departments that have training programs and award degrees in social welfare or equivalent. In general, the purpose of a university is to cultivate skills ("Graduate Attributes") through a bachelor's course and to teach each academic field. However, in the case of curricula in social welfare faculties that aim to train social welfare professionals such as social workers and mental health social workers, the qualities and abilities to be cultivated are also closely related to the qualities and abilities required for the relevant profession.
In this paper, based on the definition of social welfare professionals and the concept of professionalism, we summarize the discussion on the competencies that should be cultivated in social welfare faculties that train social welfare professionals, and discuss the current status of the qualities and abilities that are cultivated in courses that train social welfare professionals by conducting a textual analysis of diploma policies.
